All Good to Go!
Shirley G's new First Aid Certificate, valid for 3-years.

Had a fantastic 2-days of refresher First Aid training in Cumbria this past weekend. The training was provided by Active Aid and Lakes First Aid .

It was my second time using Lakes First Aid (I have to renew my 16-hour Outdoor First Aid training every 3-years) and I have to say their training is just top class; very focused on the priorities for a First Aider, very practical and with lots of realistic hands-on scenarios both inside and outdoors (even in the rain).

Their step-by-step approached to casualty injury/illness recognition is reinforced many times throughout the 2-days and provides me as a First Aider with the confidence to assess and manage an incident when needed. Also, things do change even in First Aid response and it's important to keep up to date with these changes.

Good planning and preparation, checking weather, group equipment and conducting an effective risk assessment can minimize the risk of an accident or incident whilst out walking, but accidents/incidents do happen so it's essential as a walk leader to be prepared to manage the situation.

Maybe you are not a walk leader but would like some First Aid training whether for your work place or activity group, or maybe just because you would like to learn more and be more prepared. I can totally recommend Active Aid and Lakes First Aid.
