Booking Terms & Conditions

Booking & Payments – Scheduled Group Walks

All requests for places on a Scheduled Group Walk must be paid for in full at the time of booking. Payment can be made by Bank Transfer or Credit Card. Your booking is considered to be confirmed only when payment is received. 

Booking & Payments – Private Tailored & Bespoke Walks (Private Walks)

A non-refundable deposit of £25 per 1/2-Day or Full-Day for Private, Tailored & Bespoke Guided Walking must be paid at the time of booking to secure the dates agreed with Walk Galloway with Shirley G.  Payment can be made by Bank Transfer or Credit Card. Your booking is considered to be confirmed only when payment of the deposit is received. 

Full and final payment for a guided walk must be received no less than 7-days prior to the booked date of a walk. If full payment is not received by this time, then the booking is deemed to be cancelled and no refunds will be given. 

Changes and/or Cancellation of a Guided Walk

Walk Galloway with Shirley G reserves the right to cancel, postpone or offer an alternative guided walk if deemed necessary for the safety of participants; for example, due to severe weather.

In the unlikely event that Walk Galloway with Shirley G cancels a:

- Private Walk event completely, you may choose to move your booking to a mutually agreed upon alternative date for the same or similar guided walk or receive a full refund. 

- Scheduled Group Walk event completely, you may choose to move your booking to an alternative date for the same or similar Scheduled Group Walk or receive a full refund. 

Walk Galloway with Shirley G is not liable and will not reimburse for any travel, accommodation, equipment or other costs as a result of cancellation or postponement of a guided walk, or the removal of an individual or individuals from a guided walk.

Where you decide to cancel a booking for a guided walk, whether a Private or Scheduled Group Walk, due to weather conditions, no refund will be given.

Where you decide to cancel a booking for a Private Walk more than 7-days prior to the date booked for the guided walk, a refund of any monies paid for the guided walk booking, less the non-refundable deposit of £25 per day booked, will be refunded.

Where you decide to cancel a booking for a Scheduled Group Walk more than 7-days prior to the date booked for the guided walk, a refund of any monies paid for the Scheduled Group Walk booking, less a £5 administration fee per person, will be refunded.

Where you decide to cancel a booking for a guided walk, whether a Private or Scheduled Group Walk, less than 7-days before the walk (e.g. you cancel after 11.59 p.m. on Monday for a guided walk booked for the following Monday) no refund of any monies paid will be given. 

Risk and Liability

By booking a guided walk with Walk Galloway with Shirley G you, and all members of your party, are:

1. Acknowledging that outdoor activities, including walking, are activities with a risk of personal injury or death. Walk Galloway with Shirley G will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants in their guided walks. However, by participating in these activities, individuals are acknowledging that they are aware of these hazards, accept these risks and are responsible for their own actions and involvement. Walk Galloway with Shirley G is not responsible for any personal injury or death, nor any loss, or damage to your personal effects, equipment or vehicles whilst participating in a guided walk.
2. Attesting that each person is, or will be on the date of the booked guided walk, 12-years or older. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
3. Attesting that each person is both physically and medically fit to participate in the planned guided walk and will be adequately equipped to do so. 
4. Agreeing to abide by the authority of the guided walk leader at all times.
5. Agreeing that Walk Galloway with Shirley G reserves the right to refuse participation, or remove from participation, in a guided walk, without any liability on our part, any individual who in the reasonable opinion of the walk leader is:

• Under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or demonstrates abusive or threatening behaviour.
• Has failed to previously advise of any medical conditions or disabilities, or have insufficient level of fitness, which may impact their ability to participate or adversely impact the ability of other members of the party to complete the planned walk, or may impact the safety of the individual, the walk leader or the safety and enjoyment of other participants.
• Inadequately equipped or clothed to safely participate in the walk.

Pets

No dogs or other animals allowed to participate in the guided walks.

Complaints

If you have a concern about your guided walk, you should make your concerns known to your walk leader at the earliest opportunity.  Should you feel it necessary to make a formal complaint to Walk Galloway with Shirley G, please do so in writing within 14 days of the date of your guided walk.  Walk Galloway with Shirley G will endeavour to respond to you within 5 working days.
