'I would certainly recommend your training to others - there's nothing like going out with an instructor and doing it. Thank you for being so helpful, patient and encouraging, as well as challenging - making sure we had to navigate ourselves.'

'I started as a beginner feeling very daunted by navigation. After a predominantly indoor introduction and a second session practicing outdoors for over 4.5 hours, I have learnt how to find a grid reference, find where I am on a map, set my map to my direction of travel, take a compass bearing and find a direction of travel, among others. Above all, Shirley brought my attention to small landscape and map features which are easily overlooked. Shirley is calm, intent, encouraging and accommodating. While I have much to practice, I go forward feeling empowered and inspired to explore.'
Sarah, Castle Douglas, attended Beginners 1 and Beginners 2 Map & Compass Training.
