Sandyhills to Kippford Walk

The Sandyhills to Kippford section of the Galloway coast path is one of the most loved coastal walks in the area and it's easy to see why; it's certainly one of my personal favourites.

We’ll meet in Kippford and take a the short bus journey from Kippford to Sandyhills (bus fare not included in the walk cost).

From there we'll start with a walk along Sandyhills beach before climbing up through some trees and fields onto the cliff path.

A short steep section of path is rewarded (on a clear day) with stunning view across the Solway to Cumbria and the Lake District.

We'll take a breather before continuing on down to Portling Bay. A short section of minor road walking takes us to Port O’Warren.

From Port O'Warren we climb again, first on some steps, then on a good track to level off and follow the coast on field paths and track to Gutcher's Isle and then on to Castle Point to see views over the Rough Firth of Rough Island.

From Castle Point we follow well made tracks and paths to Rockliffe (and perhaps an ice-cream break?) before walking on to Kippford.

This walk offers so much and we'll take plenty of stops along the way to enjoy everything this iconic coastal walk has to offer.

This is a small group Countryside Walk (max. 8 people) with generally good firm ground underfoot, some ups and downs, with a couple of short steeper sections, otherwise very pleasant walking.
