Galloway has something for everyone - where will you go?

Whatever the weather, Galloway offers an abundance of walking trails to suit all abilities; hills, rivers, parks, woodland and coast paths. On the wettest days there are castles and historic houses to be discovered and cosy pubs and cafes for that after walk warm-up drink.

On a frosty morning with clear blue skies forecast there is nothing better than a walk along the Galloway coast. The walk from Balcary Bay out to Balcary Point and along the cliffs to Rascarrel is hard to beat. In addition to a variety of sea birds you may even be lucky enough to see some propoises.

On a grey day why not get above the mist and fog in the valley bottom by walking up Criffel. The path is well marked, so can be navigated safely even in poor visibility.

Where ever you decide to go, go prepared, and be safe. If you are feeling unsure about winter walking in Galloway or are visiting the area and not sure where to go, why not go on a guided walk; let me do the planning and route finding for you. Contact me to discuss your ideas with no obligation to book. I am available for hire as a private guide for Countryside and Hill & Moorland Walks 12-months of the year.

Note, my regular Scheduled Group Walks will recommence in April 2026.

A Merry Christmas to you all.
