Why not join me on one of my favourite Galloway coast Walks?
Monday April 13th, 2026. A linear walk, approx. 6 miles/10 km, from Sandyhills to Kippford with the prospect of spectacular Solway views.
The walk from Sandyhills to Kippford is one of my absolute favourite coastal walks and I'm starting of my 2026 Small Group walking season with an invite to you to join me. For the entire 6 miles/10 km we will have the prospect of stunning scenery as we amble our way along the coast path visiting Portling Bay, Port O’Warren, Castle Point, and finally the village of Rockliffe before returning to Sandyhills.
On a clear day you can enjoy the spectacular views across the Solway to Cumbria and the Lake District.

I class this as a Countryside Walk because there is generally good firm ground underfoot using a mixture of field paths, woodland paths, cliff top paths through gorse and some short sections of quiet road and track. Note, this walk does involve several ups and downs, and there are three short steeper sections, with a total ascent of over 600 meters, so a reasonable level of fitness and balance is required. For those that don't like being exposed, note that for the majority of the walk there will be a stone wall or fence between you and the cliff edge.
This is a small group walk (max. 8 people) at a relaxed pace. We will meet in Kippford and then take the public bus to Sandyhills. The Small Group Walk Cost is £20 per person (bus fare not included in the Walk Cost). Please book early to avoid disappointment.
